Our Beginning
The requests to assist the most vulnerable victims of domestic violence keep coming in. The majority of local shelters don't accept animals leaving domestic violent victims no option but return home, surrender pets to a shelter, or leave the pets in harms way. A dream of opening a temporary shelter for pets is becoming a reality.

Our Mission
To provide 3 months free temporary shelter for the pets of victims of domestic violence. Approximately 88% of women entering shelters report there was also abuse toward the family pets. The one thing that provides unconditional love, comfort and support is frequently used as a means of control and instilling fear by the abuser. They will hurt the family pet in front of the entire family showing what can be done to them. It is not easy to leave this situation, and it's even more difficult to leave an animal behind knowing what their fate could be. Tended Treasures knows it can reduce the recidivism rate by removing one more obstacle to obtaining freedom from abuse. We, as a community, can do better, we can protect the defenseless, we can provide a bridge to reunite families.
